The Killing Habit
Mark Billingham began his career as an actor, TV writer and stand up comedian before turning to the life of crime (writing that is…). The series featuring London-based detective Tom Thorne began with Sleepyhead back in 2001 which was singled out by The Times as one of the novels which shaped the decade. The series includes The Dying Hours, Lifeless, Good As Dead, Time Of Death and Love Like Blood. Lazybones and Death Message both won the Theakstons Old Peculier Award for Crime Novel Of The Year. Each of Mark’s novels has been a bestseller and his books are now published in over 25 countries. His latest novel, The Killing Habit was published in June 2018.
The Old Religion
Martyn Waites also worked as an actor before turning to crime–writing. His latest book, The Old Religion is a dark, twisted and fast-paced page-turner that combines the deft plotting, evocative landscapes and imagery of Peter May with the richness of character and psychological acuity of Belinda Bauer’s rural novels. Most surprising of all, it is based on a true story. Mark and Martyn will be providing an entertaining session when they will discuss the art of crime writing, the creation of heroes and who knows, stand-up comedy.….. ?
