The Buried Crown – Heroic Animals and Birds
Saturday 6th October 2.45pm – 3.45pm
£5 per person Cuckfield Baptist Church
There are many stories of animals and birds in war – in World War One, there were medal-winning carrier pigeons and dogs and in this workshop, Ally introduces real-life animal heroes. Her book is set in World War Two and Britain is on the brink of invasion.
Ally will read from The Buried Crown in which Spud the dog and the King’s raven feature and she will describe what makes them special and heroic.
Participants can then have fun dreaming up their own animal heroes and giving them characteristics and adventures that will make them memorable.
Ally Sherrick studied Medieval History at Newcastle University and then did an MA in Writing for Children. She loves exploring ruined castles and decaying mansions and imagining what it must have been like to live there herself!
She lives with her husband and assorted garden wildlife in Farnham, Surrey.
This is a workshop session and works better with smaller groups so numbers are limited to 30.
